Versus Deum

Some Catholics may not be aware that the rubrics for the Mass of Pope Paul VI actually assume that the priest might be celebrating parts of Holy Mass facing the altar (towards God).

It is often erroneously believed that this posture is only appropriate if you are a throwback, medieval, cranky, backwards, Dark Ages, kook.

Well, the Holy Father continues to show us how the Extraordinary Form is reminding the Ordinary Form of its roots. Today, the Holy Father celebrated the Ordinary Form of the Roman Missal, "Versus Deum" using the Sistine Chapel's high altar!

Petition for Extraordinary Form of Roman Missal at Cathedral

Great news!

Diane-Marie Peloquin reports:

I have ... had friends of mine ask that I circulate a petition to have the Extraordinary Rite celebrated at St. Joseph's Cathedral in Manchester. Fr. Joseph is all set to celebrate it. The Bishop needs to know there is a group out there interested. I put the link below in case you are interested in posting it. Thank you and May you and Yours have a Very Blessed Christmas and a Joyous New year.

God Bless, Diane-Marie Peloquin
